Light Night marks the official opening of Edinburgh’s Christmas and has historically attracted over 7,000 spectators. See Edinburgh shimmer spectacularly as 200,000 lights across the city are switched on, accentuating Edinburgh’s already picturesque cityscape.
Guests will gather at East Princes Street Gardens to sample a taste of Edinburgh’s Christmas and fire up their festive spirit with a unique preview of the shows set to excite and entertain this year, with performances from Keith Jack and Funtastic, as well as an appearance from Drags Aloud.
The entertainment will continue with a special performance from Inverness ice skating squad, and renowned British ice skater Alisha Carnie (aged 15). The evening will see the sky filled with a spectacular aerial finale and fireworks to celebrate what is set to be a magical Christmas in the city. The events and attractions will be open to enjoy that evening. Lucky prizewinners will also get an exclusive chance to skate on the famous outdoor ice skating rink, before it officially opens on 28th November.
