Ahead of past years  pre Christmas celebrations Superintendent Kate Thomson from Dumfries and Chief Inspector Graeme Galloway from Stranraer have issued the following Christmas message. "We hope everyone has a merry Christmas and a happy Hogmanay planned but we would urge them to be careful. "When the pubs and clubs close for the night it is important to be aware of your own safety. Please think about how you are getting home, make sure you stick with your friends and don't wander off alone. "Taking a little extra care can make all the difference between a happy holiday and a nightmare New Year.
