The Picture House announces Hogmanay Party line-up

The cream of contemporary Scottish folk artists has been lined up to play Edinburgh's Picture House Hogmanay Party for what promises to be one of the hottest events and tickets in the capital this New Year.

Groundbreaking folk mavericks Shooglenifty are set to headline the all-star night that includes the trio of Annie Grace, Corrina Hewat and Karine Polwart. Joining them will be the award winning Malinky and ceilidh band Chuting Blancs, featuring Calum McCrimmon, Mike Vass and Anna Massie.

The organisers of the party, which runs from 8pm to 2am on 31st December, have also promised a surprise midnight moment for the bells. Picture House General Manager John Stout said:

'We're absolutely thrilled to have this line-up for our very first Hogmanay. We wanted to have a New Year with a traditional flavour that was contemporary and fun because the most important thing is that everyone has a good time.
We also don't want to wear everyone out before midnight so with Malinky and Grace Hewat Polwart there's a mix of moods that should pull a few heart strings. But later on, the audience's feet are barely going to touch the floor. It's going to be some party.'

Traditional music fans are in for another treat in the festive season as wild men of folk The Vatersay Boys arrive for their first ceilidh in the capital venue on December 13th.
Tickets for The Picture House Hogmanay Party are available now at £22.50 (over 18's only). The Vatersay Boys tickets are £12.50
