This (free) more family-orientated event was introduced for Edinburgh's Hogmanay
2000 after the success of the main street party. If you fancy a fling - the highland
sort, mind - this is the place to be. In the course of the evening this is going
to be the location for a world record attempt at the longest Strip the Willow
ever - the most energetic fling of them all. That takes place at 9.15pm at Holyrood
The Ceilidh stage, and is expected to be filmed for BBC One broadcast.
There's music, dance and street theatre from Scotland, England, Spain, France
and a focus especially on France with Fete de la France from 8.00pm.
Street theatre is from:
- From Lyon
La Compagnie Des Quidams with Aeroplume and Inko'nito. UK PREMIERE.
- From Paris
Friche Theatre Urbain, the abridged and over-the-top Macbeth.
- From Evian
Theatre De La Toupine in their mad homage to rural France. La Vache.
- From Aix en Provence
Bouldegom Theatre with the massive phantasmagoric Les Zoorks
- From Bassenge
Compagnie des Quatre Saisons in Big Mama
- From Brittany
Tango Sumo in 2ieme Round
- From Nantes
Fanfare Le Snob. Dtars of street theatre festivals in Aurillac and Chalons sur Saon.
- From Aix en Provence
Les Lucionits. Space-age performance.
