Are you mad enough? (watch Loony Dook video) Clear out the cobwebs by plunging into the icy waters of the Forth, boat-house steps S Queensferry 12 noon. Meet 11am Moorings Pub, 24-26 Hopetoun Road, South Queensferry.

Triathlon New Year's Triathlon
if you've got the energy take part in this 400 metre swim, followed by an 11-mile cycle ride and a 3.5 miles run round Arthur's Seat.
Holyrood Park 12.30pm. There is also the One O' Clock Run, a gentle mile long fun run open to all. It starts with a bang from Edinburgh's World Famous One O'Clock Gun (at Edinburgh castle), travels all the way down the Royal Mile, through the grounds of Holyrood Palace to the finish line in the Royal Park.
Street Theatre
La Compagnie des Quidams and Aeroplume, two of France's leading producers of street theatre companies perform. Gather by Hunter Square on the Royal Mile, 5.15pm.
